This is an indeterminate position (permanent). A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process may be used to fill similar positions, within Defence Research and Development Canada, Valcartier Research Centre and Department of National Defence (DND) whose term (determinate, temporary appointment, indeterminate) and the language profile may vary according to the position.

EDUCATION :
Graduation with a bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer science, information technology, information management or with specialization in mathematics, physics, mechanical engineering or in any other specialty relevant in applied sciences.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE :
- Experience in modeling and simulation including the development, application and innovative analysis of modeling and simulation technologies.
- Experience in software development.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :

EXPERIENCE :
- Experience in the conception and programming of graphical user interfaces.

KNOWLEDGE :
- Knowledge of the modeling and simulation technologies applicable to vulnerability and lethality analyses.
- Knowledge of DOS language
- Knowledge of Matlab
- Knowledge on terminal effects
- Knowledge on military platforms
- Knowledge in Finite Element Modeling
- knowledge in CAD modeling
- Knowledge of MySQL for data base management
- Extensive knowledge in the conception and implementation of complex softwares for numerical and mathematical modeling and simulation and its applications.

ABILITY :
- Ability to work in Windows and Linux environment (script shell Bash or others)

KNOWLEDGE :
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++ and FORTRAN.
- Knowledge of the application of quality ensuring standards and software validation.

ABILITIES/SKILLS :
- Ability to conceive, plan and realize research and development projects adapted to the client needs.
- Ability to define, organize and conduct concurrently different projects.
- Ability to re-engineer undocumented numerical models and modeling techniques.
- Ability to conceive and implement complex mathematical models.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally.

PERSONNEL SUITABILITY :
- To have a positive attitude toward the military domain, its role, its functions and the use of its equipment.
- To be creative and to show initiative.
- To be persevering, reliable and tactful.
- To show teamwork skills.

- To be available for occasional travel in Canada or abroad
