Intent of the process

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the FO-01 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree in forestry or wood science from a recognized post-secondary institution, that will be completed* no later than December 31, 2017.
OR
Graduation with a degree in a related science from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with acceptable experience, that will be completed* no later than December 31, 2017.

*completed means the grades have been posted by the learning institution.

Candidates must meet the education requirements in order to be appointed to a position.

Degree equivalency

Experience gathering and analyzing data.
Experience remaining abreast of changing technology.

Masters or PhD from a recognized post-secondary institution in a physical science.

Degree equivalency

Experience assisting clients in developing contract proposals.
Experience evaluating proposals and negotiating forest management and service contracts.

Knowledge of forest management techniques and principles.
Knowledge of the principles of fire behaviour physics, fire effects and interactions.
Knowledge of the objectives and forest policy of the organization.

Abilities in engagement: People, organizations, partners.
Abilities to produce high quality written documents within short time frames.
Abilities to maintain files and records of commitments and expenditures and prepare reports.

Diplomacy

Willing and able to travel within Canada (and abroad), including travel by car, rail and air.
Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
