Intent of the process

Please note this inventory will ONLY be used to staff positions in Calgary, Alberta and Airdrie, Alberta. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Calgary or Airdrie, Alberta.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*
*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including: data entry, preparing correspondence, and filing.
• Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing. (Note: Written Communication Skills will be assessed throughout application.)

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience maintaining and updating a Human Resources Management Information System (e.g. HRMIS, PeopleSoft).
• Experience preparing documents such as letters, memoranda, briefing notes or reports.
• Experience providing financial support services (services may include, but are not limited to, verifying and correcting financial claims, controlling and monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.).
• Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement and/or legal environment
• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Information Retrieval Systems (PIRS), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System (ACIIS), National Criminal Data Bank (NCDB).
• Experience providing records management services (services may include, but are not limited to, indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data).
• Experience working in a corporate mail room environment
• Experience working in a commercial printing environment
• Experience liaising with court representatives or officials, or preparing court disclosure packages.

Experience in planning and coordinating training courses or programs for internal or external clients.

Conditions of employment

• RCMP security clearance.

» Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.

. Objective Exercise for Personnel in Administrative Functions
The OEPAF is a competency evaluation tool used in staffing processes for administrative support positions. This skills test contains multiple choice questions. The scenarios are related to setting priorities, data entry, administrative document verification, and communication skills. This test will be used to evaluate the following merit criteria:
Ability to transmit information
Detail-oriented
Being organised
Action-oriented
The retest period for the OEPAF is 180 days.

. Your application in this inventory will remain active for 180 days. A notice that your application is about to expire will be posted to the My jobs menu of your account 21 days before the end of your active period. If you do not take action, your application will no longer be active, and therefore no longer considered for this inventory.
