Duties

- Participates in the design, development, implementation, integration and maintenance of Database schema changes.
- Assists in the provision of application support services.
- Participates in analyzing, defining and documenting client requirements as they relate to database principles.
- Under direction, documents database enhancements, schema changes and design documents to facilitate future deployments
- Provisioning of data through the use of ETL/CDC tools.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff five (5) positions on an indeterminate basis: four (4) of the positions with a linguistic profile of English Essential and one (1) position with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB and for all positions an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE :
*Significant and **recent experience writing Structured Query Language (SQL).
*Significant experience in the use of database performance tools.
*Significant experience in the installation, configuration and support of proprietary software used in support of database systems.
*Significant experience conducting business requirements and functional analysis in support of database design.
*Significant and **recent experience in conceptual, logical, physical and dimensional data model.
*Significant experience in deploying Database changes in a web-based application environment.

Definitions:
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of at least two (2) years.
**Recent is defined as experience gained within the last five (5) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE :
Experience writing SQL for RCMP hosted databases on DB2 (z/OS), Oracle or SQL Server.
Experience in IBM Infosphere suite of tools.
Experience in the use of Erwin.
