Work environment

This position is based at the Canadian Forest Service, Northern Forestry Centre in Edmonton, Alberta and will be part of the Forest Ecology and Reclamation Research Group led by Dr. Brad Pinno. This position will be responsible for implementing part of a research study based at an oil sands mine in northern Alberta on trembling aspen resiliency in relation to reclamation treatments and natural disturbances. In particular, research will focus on aspen suckering in response to disturbance, soil properties and competing vegetation.

Currently enrolled in: a MSc program at the University of Alberta

Degree equivalency

Experience is performing land reclamation science field work.
Experience in soil and plant sample collection in the field.

Knowledge of ecosystem development in natural and reclaimed ecosystems.
Knowledge of data analysis and statistical techniques.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to identify common plant species.
